The faults of soft starter are as follows:

1. Motor does not work:

There are two reasons why the motor can't work

One is that one of the six thyristors is not triggered reliably or is not conductive. At this time, one phase circuit passes through half wave DC, and the DC passed by the two-phase winding of the motor has a braking effect on the motor. Not only the motor can not function, but also the motor and thyristor will be burned seriously.

The other is that the motor can't get up due to improper starting parameters or starting curve, which is a common fault. The former will happen in the process of use, but the probability is lower than the failure rate of contactor. The latter often occurs in the first commissioning, and will not appear after commissioning. Most manufacturers will not appear this phenomenon, start program performance is good, factory value setting applicability is strong. Only a few manufacturers need to debug their own products.

2. SCR burnout:

Thyristor breakdown or explosion, such failures regardless of domestic and foreign brands, are easy for manufacturers, but the failure rate is lower than that of contactors, and the main problem appears in the installation process of the cake type thyristor.

3. Controller burning loss:

Compared with soft starter, controller burnout is the most serious. Some manufacturers such failures caused by the repair rate has exceeded 30%. Such problems are rare for imported or joint venture manufacturers. The main reason is that the power supply, trigger circuit and input circuit of the controller are easy to burn down.

4. Misoperation of soft starter:

When the motor is installed, it will stop because of the interference of the soft starter. When the motor is stopped, it will start because of the interference of the soft starter. The former is more common, while the latter only has two brands. The first reason is the product quality problem, and the second is related to the line layout. However, all imported or joint venture soft start do not have the above phenomenon, and there are more problems in domestic brands.

5. Poor contact of internal connector of soft starter:

Soft starter internal connector selection is not a problem, which is easy to ignore by domestic manufacturers, often failure. Neither import nor joint venture manufacturers make such mistakes.
