Can any electric motor run on a VFD?
Generally speaking, frequency converters are suitable for three-phase asynchronous motors.
The selection of the inverter depends not only on the power of the motor, but also on the rated current of the motor. As long as the rated current of the inverter is equal to or slightly larger than the rated current of the motor, there will be no problem.
In the inverter industry, there is a selection rule, that is, the power of the inverter cannot be more than 2 levels higher than the power of the motor. For example, if you have an 11KW motor, you can use a 15KW inverter, or you can use an 18.5KW inverter, but It is best not to use a 22KW inverter. The reason for this rule is that if the rated current of the frequency converter is much larger than the rated current of the motor, the protection function of the frequency converter becomes a decoration.
